Hi Everyone,

I want to make a hat for a boy of about age 6. He's average size and that's all I know about size. It is going to be a knit hat but I am going to recycle a sweater so I won't be knitting it. I want to make a beret style hat if possible and honestly I'm trying to avoid buying a pattern. It seems so simple I just can't imagine that I need one anyway.. He would love that military style beret with the small band and little tails.

If anyone can help me find some basic measurements AND a free pattern I would be so grateful! Otherwise I will have to settle for a watch cap style. That will be ok too I just have my heart set on the beret. I'm planning on putting a little pull tab like adjustment thingie in the band so all I need is to get close...

Thanks a Million

I think what you can do is take a large circle and sew it to a ring. Check out the link here.

Thank you hejin...

I bookmarked it for future reference. I ended up getting a watch cap and decorating it. It came out cute...
