Hi, everyone! I'm a long-time Craftster lurker and follower of this board in particular! Smiley

I love reading about causes that need donations but it's sometimes hard to figure out which ones can use my skills. I felt like a master list of charities and crafts that they need would be really helpful for this board, so I compiled one:

I thought a Wiki page would be a perfect way to make the list because it's easy to edit and share with friends who aren't members of Craftster. I hope it's helpful! Please let me know if you have any suggestions for additional charities/groups for the list.

I don't know how to use that - but Project Linus accepts blankets of all types to donate to hospitals, homeless shelters, etc.

Thank you, Lafemmefatale! I will add that to the list. It's actually pretty easy to edit a Wiki page... I just don't have it set up for open editing just yet.

Thanks for posting that!  My daughter has been knitting a wool vest that was intended for afghans 4 Afghans, and I'd made a few sweaters in solidarity, but it's taken her long enough that their current campaign is for something completely different.  You helped me find an alternate organization (Warm Woolies) that will accept the work and put it towards a very similar and equally good purpose.  Thanks!

Thank you for creating this list. I am going to get started on some crafting for our soldiers in Iraq, now that I have found the specs! Thanks!

Can you post directions on how to add charities to the list.  Also, I wanted to let you know crafthope.com is another great charity organization.  There are different charities every 2 months or so with a variety of crafting methods, it is growing so fast!  Thanks so much for posting a list.

My friends I am addicted to "crackster".  I think they might be right.
I am interested in personal swaps, just send me a pm!

I love my life, my hubby, my sons, and my 2 crazy dogs!  Isn't life grand?

If you want to, you can go ahead an post your list then I can add it to the 1st post.

Ooops-forget what I said, I can't post to her list on that site. Maybe if you add it here, she will add it to the site. I really need to wake up and drink my tea before posting Tongue

Just fyi, Goods 4 Girls has shut their doors. You may want to take it off the list. =(

From the founder (Jan. 09),

"Over the next month or so, I'll be shutting down operations for Goods 4 Girls. I still have shipments going out to South Africa (Chrysalis Girls), Sudan (NESEI), and Uganda (Shanti) and will hopefully use all the stock and funds I have on hand for those deliveries. "
