I was looking around my house the other day to realize that a very large portion of my swap goodies are on display / in use. Many of them I use daily or are on display in the living room or craft room. Lots, if not all of the jewelry and purses are "in rotation". The t-shirts aren't on "heavy rotation" because I want to be careful with them and make sure they last - so those are only for "special occasions".
A few (out of many) examples, I got a t-shirt last year just in time to wear for Thanksgiving and I wear it semi-often, but I've resisted lately so it would be clean for Thanksgiving this year.
On Halloween I lent my zombie doll to a friend to hug while watching scary movies and she thought it was really cute.
I have a screen printed shirt over two years ago that I recently wore to an event and it got a ton of compliments.
Would people like to get messages nearly a year or more later that their item is in use and got a compliment or is that a little weird?
(I once got a message with a photo to show an item I had sent was still in use and that was awesome!)

I guess it depends on the person, but I would think most people would be thrilled.  I still use the knitting bag and crochet hook roll often and get compliments on the bag all the time (no one ever really sees the crochet hook roll, but I love it).  I'm even still crocheting (not well, but it's a process Wink).

I'd be thrilled if someone messaged me about enjoying something I made for them. I was just using some swap soap a couple hours ago and was thinking about how I should let the soapmaker know how much I've enjoyed it. I think I'll send her a message right now.  Grin

I made a pair of wings for a swap partner, and was thrilled when she sent me a picture of her wearing them for Halloween.  It was great.  And I use the tote bag she gave me for a project bag, back and forth from work every day.  Also, DH wears the bracelet she macrame'd for him, often, too.  It is an awesome aspect of swapping!

I think it would be awesome!  I get compliments on my bags and jewelry all the time and I always mention that I got them in a craft swap on Craftster. Smiley  I've sent off random messages to thank people again, I think it's a really nice thing to do. Smiley

I had a calorimetry from one partner that I wore all through winter. Another person sent me an awesome bag that I carried EVERYWHERE for months. Any zippered pouch I've been sent has been in constant use since it arrived... and just looking at myself today, I'm wearing a t'shirt that was printed for me by a swap angel.

Most of what I've received in swaps has been pressed into action so much and so often that it's just become part of the stuff I use daily.

I really should PM some of these partners and let them know that the X they sent me is still much used and much loved.

I was looking at my refrigerator not all that long ago, and I have an organizational chart from two months ago and several magnets that I've received in swaps. They're great!

I also had fun a few days ago looking for fabric, because I found a bunch of fabric scraps from my first swap (two years ago)!  I also have some machine embroidered quilt blocks that I got in a swap that I really want to use so I can show them off.  Smiley

And I'd love to know if the stuff I made two years ago is still holding up.  Smiley  It would also be cool to get some sort of notification when someone added one of my projects to their favorites section (or to their wist)!

I use the emoticon coasters I got all the time. In fact, I'm using one right now. Tonight I also used the hat I got in the first swap I was ever in. I have swap stuff all over my house!  Grin

And I still use that bag every day to take stuff to work that's too big for my handbag! (Assuming I'm the person you mention Wink And if not, then take it as the compliment that's intended!)

Yup, it was you. Smiley That reminds me to hurry home and stash away the scarf you sent before my Mom arrives - she almost "accidentally" packed it last time she visited. Not to mention several of the zippered pouches sent to me that she holds onto a little too long for my comfort...

I've sent random notes before, months after a swap!  Smiley

My favourite swap item is the pair of hand-knitted socks i got a few years back. My son was born in winter and I spent lots of time this year in PJs and socks.

I'd be flattered to hear from a past partner. I still use and display almost all of the swap goodies I've received.

I was in the 'I want what I can't craft swap' in Oktober, my partner being crazy4bags.
I received 6 bags, 4 of them are in daily use!
1 = messengerbag (if my books aren't too heavy, I always use that one to go to school)
3 smaller bags: 1 for ladystuff, 1 for hairpieces, 1 to transport sewing stuff from my dorm to home and otherway around.

than a pencil case, I received in the 'Newbie Only round' from cupcakesorbet, I am using it since I got it!

Than the jewellery is used in an switching mode Smiley

in one of the wishlist swaps, I asked for a squishy toy for my husband  - he has to get IVs and blood tests often for his chemo and he HATES needles. I thought having a soft & squishy to hold (besides me Smiley ) would help. I admit he thought it was a silly idea, but he tried it. He didn't say anything one way or the other. After using it two or 3 times, he was reminding me to bring his squishy to the appointments. Last week he had an emergency appointment and I forgot to bring it with us - the nurse asked us why he didn't have his squishy Cheesy

*nods* my fiancee (who passed away three years ago) had a special little stuffed bear that he always had to have with him for injections/tests/being in hospital. It really does seem to help!

When she was good, she was very very good - but when she was bad she was fabulous.

A several months ago I messaged a couple partners that made items that I use regularly. A lot of the stuff I have on display, and some I need to. I think it is nice to receive a thank you after the swap is over, it makes the other crafter feel appreciated. I know I would feel that way if I received a message months after a swap was over.

My first swap was a fill-a-purse swap, and alteredmommy (one of the best swap partners EVER!) made me a great business card case.

I just refilled it this morning to carry with me to a conference.

Cool!  I made the Best of 2009 twice!   Check 'em out!

There totally should be a thank-a-swapper day/week along this theme, maybe even with craftster ads/bulletins up top so people who don't see this board can know about it. I know I've got a ton of "regulars" in my life that are from swaps. I actually just snuck a thank you into a swap questionnaire (it was the next round of a swap where the organizer had, in the previous round, given me a bag that I use all. the. time, so I gave her a mini-shoutout since she was "receiving" my questionnaire.)

Although I suppose it's better if it's unofficial, cause then a) it's a surprise and b) nobody gets their feelings hurt if they receive zero thank yous

I use things I get in swaps all the time. Almost everything that I get complimented on ("I like your necklace", etc.) came from a swap. And I would be totally psyched to know that my items were still loved.

At this very second, I'm wearing a hat, tshirt, hoodie, socks, ring, and necklace that are all from swaps!  Its like that pretty much every day.

The bag I use everyday is from a swap, and the wallet in there, and the drawstring project bag holding my knitting, and the little tissue pouch, and the keyring, and the book cover on my book.

Yeah, pretty much all the cool stuff I have came from swaps!  The only thing I ever buy is yarn...everything else comes in the mail from awesome craftsters!  (thanks again everyone, you know who you are!!!)

Step off, I'm doin the hump.

I have all of the things I recieved. On heavy or less heavy rotation

But there's one item I got sitting in my room. It's the Malcolm reynolds doll I got in the firefly/serenity swap. I think it's sooooo cute. I'm in a science fiction, firefly based, larp and took the doll with me. Everyone wanted to take pictures with it Tongue

OMG I Would LOVE a Malcolm doll...Which reminds me that one of my goals today was to search for Jayne's hat and put it in my wists.

I am two months new to swapping but I use the things I got. People ask me if I made what I am wearing because they know I love making stuff. I tell them, "Nope, some one made it for me!" and I feel so special knowing that some one put love into an item just for me.

I recently wore a pair of earrings to a final exam because it was in one of my power colors. I felt more confident and pretty because of something so small.

I haven't had these as long as some of you; but my fairy shrine from the fairytale, fantasy RND2 swap and the wolf/forks pillow from the twilight rnd6 swap are special to me and live in my family room. The Cullen crest banner, from same swap and the HP spell sign from HP HBP swap decorate my library area.

I have aprons from HP HBP and the pioneer swap that are hanging in my kitchen ready to be used. I guess I am on my way to rebuilding my apron collection. I left some at a job years ago.

I have a lot swap items in my kitchen and when my freinds come over and compliment me on these things they assumed I crafted myself, I get such a kick out of tell them "someone made that for me" followed by a loooong story about how awesome craftster is and more details about all the great people I've met and crafted for..I think i need to PM beckster right now Smiley
