First I just want to say: I LOVE Halloween!
The whole idea of a holiday made to dress up in costumes and having fun is just perfect. I love dressing up and especially making the costume. So I had a lot of fun with this dress (and a lot of problems too...) and in the end it came out almost exactly like I wanted it to. And this is the first contest I'm entering so I hope I'm doing it right Smiley

So... for halloween I wanted to be a ghost, but not just an ordinary ghost with a sheet over your head, but a classy old-style ghost. I don't know what century I was inspired from because I don't know much about history, but I like those old dresses with lots of frills, lace and poofy skirts.

I made the pattern myself and used cheap fabrics like curtain lace stuff and cotton. The bodice has fake corset lacing (as in it's just for decoration), and is sewn together with the top "blouse". The blouse part has some buttons on the collar and shoulder to close, and the stand up collar has pleats at the top. The bodice is made of cotton as the base with lace over it and a lining of some silky material. The skirt is made of cotton as a base and then lace draped on top. I cut the cotton part so it would look like it's ripped and destroyed at the bottom. Then I sewed bows on top of the draping and at the top of the bodice. I'm wearing a petticoat underneath which I also made myself, but earlier. I also made a hairpiece to match, and I ended up looking like a bride so I decided I was a Dead Bride's Ghost.

So I guess you want some pictures, here's some action shots and at the bottom are detail shots of the dress. If you want more photos ( I love posing as much as I love dressing up lol ) go here: http://s214.photobucket.com/albums/cc313/Phyx_/sewing/

Joker: Oh no! Don't kill me!

Ghost: Ok, let's battle in Guitar Hero instead!

I killed everyone at the party I think.

Even the Jedi!

A week before the party I pierced those two holes in my lip and got a cold, so I wasn't feeling all that great. Then during the party which me and a friend organized, I got a nosebleed that just wouldn't stop, so I'm having paper stuffed in my nose in some pictures haha. Not the best night I've ever had but it was a lot of fun anyway. Hopefully I'll be able to wear the dress next year too (it's a bit small) and won't be having a cold or anything so I'll be able to enjoy it more. Anyway, I look pretty scary huh? Smiley

Detailed photos:

Please VOTE for me if you like my dress, it took me 3 weeks of work on and off Smiley
Thanks for looking!

When it's 1 am and you can see dancing elephants in the texture of your carpet, it's probably time to go to bed...

thank you! I didn't even know what I was doing, just tried some different colors Smiley but I should have used more black around the eyes, it looks like I'm not wearing any makeup at all there... I did use red and yellow to make me look sick, but it kinda disappeared in the photos.... :/

I was a dead bride last year but my costume wasn't nearly as good as yours!
