well i got an ancient mccalls pattern.... it has the detatchable colar.... but since we will be running around like a bunch of chickens with our heads cut off (seeing as we will be at a con) ill probably just slipstitch it into place.... at least on the back part.... so it looks more natural..... although nothing in anime is tooo natural... XD

Here's a site with some patterns and tutorials. And also the Sailor Senshi thread on cosplay.com has tons of suggestions and method from cosplayers who have made the costume before, it's been going since 2003!

I made a Sailor Venus costume last year for a convention.
Heres what we did:
-We made everything detachable using large safety pins or velcro so that the base could be reused.
-We used pre-made leotards because it was easier than making one.
-We used the lynleigh patterns
-We were on a budget so we used simple cotton broadcloth but in general try not to use anything shiny. It looks tacky and cheap.

Good luck!!
