Craft Challenge #33 - Handmade Holiday Gifts for Kids - Due Dec 1 - Dec 5 2008

The blog entry about this challenge can be found here:

Update! 12/6/08 - Time to post your vote! Scroll up for the poll!

We all have at least one kid on our holiday gift giving list, right? Maybe it's your own child, a friend's child, a niece, nephew, cousin... Well here's your chance to get a head start on making an awesome handmade item for any kid in your life! And a kick in the butt to knock one gift off your list!

To participate in this contest, just pick one child in your life (15 or under) and make a super sweet holiday gift for them. Consider taking that child's favorite things into consideration, or if the child is very young maybe the parent's favorite things! The sky is the limit!

Not only can you win the prize below, but your ideas will inspire other people who are looking for handmade gift ideas for kids!

  • The entry must be made for a child 15 or under.
  • The entry must be made between the announcement date and the entry date.  You may not enter items that you have made or posted previously.
  • Post your craft during the period of Dec 1 - Dec 5 2008. No sooner. No later. On Dec 1 there will be a special folder created for entries.
  • Voting will happen from Dec 6 - Dec 12 2008.
  • Each participant can enter ONE project. (Although your entry can have multiple components to it.)

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original and has never been posted on Craftster or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, then just give credit to that project.

At the end, I'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner will get...

(1) their project in the Featured Projects area
(2) their project in the Craftster Blog

And this prize (winner can receive prize in U.S. or non-U.S.):

A Klutz.com gift certificate for $150.00!

"Klutz creates activity books and other great stuff for kids ages 3 to 103.  With award-winning and bestselling how-to-books, like Window Art, Paper Fashions Fancy and the Encyclopedia of Immaturity, there's something for everybody.

Known for high quality and great value, kids love to get their hands on Klutz books and parents love them too. Our books come with everything needed to create the projects inside and we're sticklers for providing the best kid-tested instructions and supplies that guarantee A+ projects.  We love all things kid at Klutz and some of our favorite subjects include art and drawing, crafts, science and building and games and puzzles.
For the younger set, there is Chicken Sox, activity books for kids ages 4 and up. Chicken Sox knows how to keep projects fun, simple (but not too simple) and entertaining for the littlest of hands. Little sprouts can spread their creative wings with books like Make Your Own Paper Flowers, Short Stuffs, Melty Beads and more.  See our entire collection of books and supplies at klutz.com."

Want to know what Klutz books we here at Craftster just looooove? Here are a few that always catch my eye every time I see them in a store. And ya know what's extra great about them? Each of these below have refills for when you use up all of the supplies that come with the book and want to make more!

And I will fully admit that I often end up buying Klutz books "for my young cousins" when I visit them and, well, yeah -- half the reason why I buy them is because I really want to use them! Cheesy

Ok, I'm all over this.  I've got grandkids just waiting for me to make them something special.  I also have a neighbor's kid who is a toddler.  I've got to come up with something spectacular.

If you really think you'd enjoy this challenge, couldn't you make something and donate it to a women's shelter or something.  I know that our local shelter begs for nice children's gifts for Christmas because so many women and their kids end up there during the holidays.  Just a thought.

I fink you freeky
