So yesterday I decided to make a pair of pants... I usually am a freestyle girl and stay away from patterns but for pants I need a little help… the problem is... my son has a weird shape so last year when I made the pattern for him I needed to adjust it to fit a 3x-4x waist with enough space for a cloth diaper and the short legs of a 1 year old... the problem is I fixed the pattern but made it upside down... and I figured it out when trying to assemble them... I did some puzzle work and ended up fixing them...

So yesterday I get my pattern out and thought “omg I am not going to make that mistake again” so I erased the words “top” at one end of the patterns and wrote them at the other end… then cut the material making sure that I added more length for the legs…. sewed the outside seams and then realized that I had already corrected the pattern the last time I had made the mistake.. so again… I cut them upside down… arghh!!!

I didn’t want to waste the material so I decided to cut what was too much at the top and paut that to the bottom of the legs and then add a bit of corduroy to fill the space that was missing… of course then the brown cord looked a bit out of place so I thought about some pockets on the side with appliqué’s to compliment the colours…

I am SO happy with the way that they turned out!!!! I think that I am going to make more of the same… (well… this time on purpose!!)

I had to laugh at your mistake, the first time I made pants I could not figure out for the life of me how the heck the went together.

But your mistake came out awesome. I love side pockets.

Those are so cool. I love the owl and mushroom.

It's not what you know, but what you do with what you know that is important.

Congratulations! You have just proved to us all how creative you are. We await your next masterpiece.
Seriously they are awesome. I'm sure my little boy (now 27  Smiley) would have loved wearing them.

They look cute! Your son doesn't look 'weird' shaped either. I'm sure it was a wonky pattern that is hard to fit on anyone!  Wink
