I really want to make my OH a Mooby's shirt from the Kevin Smith movies. They look like this:

So I was thinking, get a white shirt, dye it purple add the yellow buttons and embroider a mooby patch. I'm just not sure how would be best to do the collar (detach and dye it seperately? yellow fabric over the top?) And also the yellow piping around the sleeves and pocket. This is particularly difficult because if I don't want him to know I really need to avoid using the sewing machine. Any ideas?

Any ideas? Maybe sewing yellow ribbon around each sleeve would work?
