Craft Swap Super Hero

« on: October 28, 2008 11:51:27 AM »

I made this piece for a personal swap, but have to give it a post of it's own since I am so proud of it. My FIL made the frame from reclaimed wood. It has the best texture!

Here is a picture of the whole thing together. I painted the phrase "until death do us part" in Spanish in the banner at the bottom. I had to verify my Spanish with one of the teacher at our high school!!

Here is a close up of the banner.

Close up of just the calveras. I found the image on line and then drew it my own way to turn it into an embroidery pattern. The flowers are vintage patterns from the flickr hoop love photo pool.

Here is an even closer close up of some of my stitching. I used anywhere from 3 strands down to 1 strand. I also used a lot of different stitches and techniques.

The fabric I embroidered on is stretched around a canvas board then sewn on lacing it up like a corset. I glued a nice piece of scrapbook cardstock to the back and wrote the info such as date my signature on the back.

I'm so happy with how it turned out and Acidtrix loves it too!!!!

This is so perfect. Lovely stitch work and the frame is great.

Your stitching is superb. I am so envious because I can never to get anything to look half as good as yours. I love the image and all the bright colors. The banner painted on the bottom is just too perfect. I clicked my 'this rocks' because this really rocked my socks off. Swoon!
