What is the best type of cord or whatever to use to lace a corset?

I use boot laces, black & brown are easiest to find but if you really search you can find navy, red & sometimes white.

If you want to lace a corset traditionally (tie in the middle on the back) you'll need very long laces, about 4 meters for an underbust corset and 5 meters for an overbust corset, if your corset does not have a busk, take longer laces, otherwise it will be really difficult to put it on or take it off.
