so I'm in a service club and once a month we have theme meetings.  In late November we're having a Roaring 20s theme and I have 20$ to spend for decorations and an activity but I don't know what to do!!!  I already know I want to buy cardboard and spray paint it black and cut out like a guy on a trumpet, etc.  and I'm going to have to find jazz music and I'm making flapper dresses out of t-shirts for executive board (inspiration from Generation T... has anyone made this? Any tips or problems?)  what are some other ideas to make a boring room into a speak-easy (without alcohol)?

I like to make lists. So, here:

1. Instead of buying cardboard, is there any way you could get it for free from Wal*Mart (or some other store)?
2. I've looked at a bunch of 1920's-themed posts, and people keep saying to use black and white for the decorations.
3. For the no-alcohol thing, you can serve sparkling water and fruit juice.
4. Other people here have done a 20's theme for parties, so it'll probably help to see what they did...

Have people enter the room using a secret word... like a speak easy.

Collect old liquor and wine bottles and set them around the room.
