I made this dress for my daughter's first birthday, but gave it to her a couple days early to wear to my cousin's wedding.  I used two fat quarters for the actual dress and them pant legs of an outfit she outgrew for the sleeves and waistband.  I gathered some ribbon around a cute flower button I had lying around and trimmed the hem with green and pink ribbon to match.

Then I realized she had no pink shoes for the occasion and whipped up a pair of booties (I think they were called Chinese baby slippers) from scraps of a pink wool sweater I had felted ages ago.

I'm just so happy how well they turned out. I don't make alot for her since her MIL goes a bit nuts buying for her, she's got more clothes than the rest of the family combined. Smiley  But I'm really glad I did this. She was the hit of the wedding, after the bride of course.

That outfit is adorable! I love her little shoes too. Did you use a tute for them? I have a pregnant best friend I'm sewing for. (twins) lol

For the booties I used one of the bootie tutes I think it was called chinese slippers. Basically two pieces,  the sole and the upper and the straps are cut from the center so its still attached at the heel.

If I did these again, the only thing I'd change is that I'd put hot glue dots or non skid mats on the soles.  The poor kid beaned herself on the dance floor when her feet shot out from under her.
