Hi my names Alissa and I have a problem....   I have way to many old sewing machines!!   Smiley  (heheheh) I'm running out of room!!

I've mostly got singers,  but I have just picked up a old kenmore from good will... (couldn't leave it there... it looked all sad and dirty!)
I've taken it all apart, cleaning it inside and out and oiled it,. now it runs great!!

I've looked on line to find out around what year it was made... much to my suprise.. I have yet to find a site that helps date it.
model # 158. 12391

any one with any info on this machine?

Is it this machine?

if so, this is the same machine my mom bought 30 years ago (when I was born, eww).  I liked it a lot!  It is the kind of used machine I would recommend for someone who is starting to sew.  It is also a good second machine.  If my mom wanted to part with it, i'd take it.

It's four o'clock somewhere.

here are some photos, I mean it looks like the photo, only those have the removable arm part, and this has a solid metal plate and no removable bed part..  eh, no big deal,.  I just like to know the round about year it was made...    Thanks!!

I found this:  http://www.searsarchives.com/history/files/sewing_id.pdf which should help identify 'round about' the year of manufacture.  Scroll down to find the model number.  It looks like about 1974-1977.

My Kenmore is similar but not quite the same. The bobbin casing is as you describe it, and exactly like the photograph. Mine was bought in 1975 new.
