I hadn't heard much about the movie - what a bummer.  I did notice that the featurettes seemed way too Nightmare Before Christmas.  I loved the Dave McKean art in the book - it's so creepy and otherworldly.  Apparently they have made a new graphic novel, too, with P. Craig Russell as the illustrator.  He is great (love the Oscar Wilde fairy tales), but NOT the style I think fits with the Coraline story.

Thanks for all of your advice.  I'll play around with some wire and see what I can do!  For clothes, I might just wear all black and lighten my skin.  Making the dress is a little ambitious for this time frame, but I'd love to do it someday...  Smiley  Good luck with your costume.

So, I did it!

a practice run, with only one button, using only latex to hold it on ( I also experimented with the idea of having it look like there was a needle stuck through my forehead skin, but didn't go with it for the finished costume)

and here's the whole shebang for the big night. I used the Pince-nez/latex idea, and covered with white makeup.

thanks for all the ideas and support!
acajjou, I'd love to see what you came up with, too.

This calls for a very special blend of psychology and extreme violence.
