i just was accepted as a swap angel (and I am so proud of it!) and my swap partner has received, so I can start showing some of the items I made.
In my swap partner's wists, I found the Death of Rats (from the Disworld novels), and I immediately knew, I'd have to make one.
The inspiration for the wist was here on craftster as a knit version. https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=99060.0
I didn't follow the pattern, but used my favourite method "just start and crochet whatever is needed".
So here he is:
The Death of Rats (and Mice)
He was supposed to be a finger puppet, but I couldn't resist giving him a full crochet skeleton inside, so any finger has to find a way past the hip bones, I'm sorry...
But then, something happened. My swap partner loves pink. I don't, and it turned out as I worked on her pink items, that pink actually gets on my nerves so much, that I had to assassin it. I made some revenge-on-pink objects, and then I took the little Death of Rats to finish the last stitches... and then it happened again. I was powerless! I couldn't not make this:
Death of Rats' Granddaughter. Because, I thought, if Death can have a granddaughter, so can the Death of Rats.
And here they are:
The Death of Rats and his Granddaughter
Miss Minideath has frills on her coat, and she carries a sickle, not a scythe (I didn't want to make another scythe, and I love sickles - and besides, sickles are an ancient symbol of female powers and fertility... but that's sort of wasted on Death, I admit)
It really felt wrong to make her. Death shouldn't come in pink frills. I had to make it anyway for my mental health, all the tension that come from touching too much pink had to go somewhere. I ended up making much more weird pink stuff than innocent pink stuff. It was more fun
The Deaths of Rats eyeing a dying mouse
I have a black thumb for computer mice so they should feel at home with me quite soon
