This is actually a really old project that I did about 8 years ago, but since I am still technically a craftster newb, I decided to share. I love making collages/decoupage and find that I will keep just about every magazine or catalog that I can get my hands on just in case I feel the need to attack it with scissors. Anyway, my husband and I had bought this really cool lamp (sorry I didnt get a picture of the base) but the shade was a dull beige. So one night I collected all my clippings and sat down with a giant vat of mod podge and went to work. I think I worked on it every night for about a week, trying to fit everything together as neatly as possible. I filled in an extra spaces peaking thru with purple acrylic paint pen and then slapped on about 3 more coats of mod-podge. Overall, I have no idea how many coats are actually on it, but let me tell you..........Its a LOT!

I tried to get a 360 degree shot

i know, its crooked  Undecided

I truly love this shade, but it doesnt look so hot when you turn it on. All the light shines thru in an odd pattern because of the different shades, textures and thicknesses of paper. I didnt think about that before hand, so we just keep it around for looks, and because if something happened to it I think I would cry (it took me so long to cut and paste all those clippings)

Let me know what you think, Thanks! Cheesy
I know its not the most glamorous thing in the world, I probably could've done a better job & it doesnt have a theme, but I'm a pack rat & I think it pretty much symbolizes that part of me.

Oh this is great. I love decoupage. The lamp shades are really rocking.

I love it!  Very fun!  Should do that in my dd's room to her boring old lamp shade!

How neat! I was thinking that for your  light problem, maybe you could cut out one piece of a thicker white/cream? paper and glue it on the inside of the shade. Would probably dull the light but may help even it out. Grin

I think it would be simpler to spray it on the inside with some sort of paint. A light coat. That should even out your problem without blocking too much light. Or maybe take some overhead projector film, maybe a fun red or purple, and tape it inside. Smiley
