Yesterday i went to a secondhand shop and bought a bag full of goodies (please read my thread about the mystery sewing ft https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=269008.0 and help me figure out what they are for) and in that bag were quite a lot of spools of thread so i figured it was about time to make an Impressive Organizer that i have seen around on the forum and everytime i saw one i thought 'wow that is impressive, this girl must be so Organized and Important and Crafty to have such a thing on her wall' so of course i wanted one as well. The organizer hangs from my wall, and allready i feel waves of Importance and Organizedness flowing over me Smiley
It was super easy, cost next to nothing (thrifted fabric, piece of wood underneath i literally went outside saying to the bf 'i am going to find a piece of wood' and so i did. i LOVE living in the projects Smiley oh and the pins are made of q-tips. So now i have a little container filled with q-tip heads which look really nice so i'm keeping them just for looks)

Well enough with the talk, here come the pictures!

one closer up:

And here is a picture of the outstanding embroidery my machine produces...

sweet little q-tips standing in line like brave soldiers Smiley

I hope you like it and i love to hear from all of you!
have a very happy day!

It looks GREAT, and I've been wanting one of those, too, even though I don't have that many spools.  Future growth, I say!

I'm feeling obtuse, but how did you get the q-tips to stand up in the wood?  Did you just predrill holes and stick them in?  Glue?

Great idea, in any case.

I indeed pre-drilled the holes, i just drew a grid on the wood and drilled under a slight angle, and if you're like me and like repetitive movement it is actually doable to drill all the holes under about the same angle. Just think you're a machine (:
then you spray-glue the wood and attach the fabric, then you use a little knife to make a tiny cut where the hole is and just stick the qtip in, mine just were stuck enough by themselves, just use a drill that has the same size as the qtip.

And thanks for the compliments btw Smiley
