I made these about 7 years ago (so pardon the slight dirtiness) my freshman year of college for those hikes down to the laundry room or cafeteria when I didn't feel like putting on actual shoes. I got cheapo flip flops from Wal-Mart (I think they were maybe $3-4) and a 1/4" of fabric (no, I didn't use it all). Cut the fabric into strips about 7" X 1.5"-2" and tied them onto the thongs.

These fleece ones are my favorites because they keep my feet warm (they always seem to be cold but I hate the "restriction" of socks) but I also made a few more for myself and family that were different fabrics. I've experimented with crocheting fun yarn around the thongs (just a regular cast on stitch) as well and that worked out great. I've also embellished with pendants, beads, sequins and all sorts of stuff.

Now I just use them around the house or when I have to take out the trash or make a trip out to the car. I've been known to wear them to the pool or when I just *have* to hit up Wal-Mart at 3 am too.  Cheesy

Fun!! I made quite a few of these with fun fur yarn, but now I'll have to make some with fleece. Thanks!

My mom makes these with Fun Fur. We wear them anywhere and get compliments all the time. I even wear them to college sometimes.
