I'm probably going to get yelled at for this, but I feel strongly enough about it to say this: try & find a person to learn from. Books are great, tutorial videos are a wonderful source not available to previous generations, but having a real person there to say "no, turn it over first, now try that" makes a world of difference. Even if it's only another beginner reading the same book you are, having someone else watch what you are doing to see if they get it can help.

Community education programs at schools & colleges, stores, clubs & guilds are all good places to look for either a class or an individual to teach you.

Lack of money shouldn't stop you either, I have more than once taught lessons in exchange for other services from the person I taught.
