I played Bananagrams today at a friend's and I'm totally addicted.  Of course, I wanted a set to play at home, and wasn't so keen on spending 15 bucks to get one...

Since I have a tendency to pick up Scrabble games at yard sales and hang on to them, I assembled my own set in about 45 minutes using the following materials:

144 hoarded Scrabble tiles
1 old yellow tshirt from my stash
1 nylon drawstring from DS's old backpack

I'm as pleased as punch, and fighting the strong desire to freezer paper stencil the logo into my banana bag!

Bananagrams is a totally addictive word grid game similar to Scrabble, but there's no board, and everyone plays their own letters at the same time.  Here's a link to their site which explains things a little more clearly.

I'll post the banana bag tut in a few days...things are crazy here at the moment (which, of course, explains why I was making stuff at midnight to begin with)...

Here's the tile breakdown, if anybody wants to make their own set:

    * 2: J, K, Q, X, Z
    * 3: B, C, F, H, M, P, V, W, Y
    * 4: G
    * 5: L
    * 6: D, S, U
    * 8: N
    * 9: R, T
    * 11: O
    * 12: I
    * 13: A
    * 18: E

if there are onyl two j's why do i always get about four?!?

we have endless arguments with my 'know it all'(she doenst know that much.she just thinks she does) friend, defining what is and isnt a word(the oxford english dictionary is no help)

so we have rules such as
-no rubbish not actual words two letter words(applies to friend)
-no foreign words(inc names of foreign currencies)
-no names
-no swears or rude words(where i fall down. i have gotten most swear,lots of rude words AND by using an i as a hyphon i manageg to get 'strap-on')(we play it at school)
-no americanisms(olivias downfall)
-no onamatpias

and many more

and just for fun...

spot the rude ones

me and my friends made a group one using every tile but i cant get the pic off my phone Sad

"she'll need a full body cast...
a big wooden one."

I have been scavenging the thrift stores for old Scrabble boards to do this, but have only been able to find one so far.  i refuse to pay 20 for the original game, your bag has turned out really well.
