I made a DNA scarf, using some Lion Cashmere Blend I got for 65% off, and this cable pattern: http://www.twosheep.com/helix/Helix5.pdf

I started it last fall when I was feeling very unhappy, and put it down for almost a year.  Now I'm quite happy and quite finished, and planning on giving it to the new boyfriend for his birthday Smiley  I bought 6 balls of yarn and only used 4 for the scarf, so I think he's going to get a matching hat as well!

What a fun project!  I love how the color makes it look like just a regular cabled scarf until you look a little closer.  It's interesting how many crafters on this site also seem to be into science.

Cables really aren't that hard to knit - I can't knit lace to save my life, but once I got the hang of cabling I was addicted!  But I think that learning to cable without a cable needle makes this kind of project much more approachable Smiley
