I found this chair. It had a sad little sign saying "FREE". It was filthy and had been much abused by a cat. The legs were scuffed and marked, but it looked solid and had potential. (I think re-upholstering belongs in "reconstructed" - correct me if I'm wrong... it isn't like I reinvented it as I dunno, a car or something- I made a ugly chair into a pretty chair).

BEFORE:

I cut off the fabric and used it to make a pattern. I re-used the zipper for the cushion and then trashed the rest of the blue canvas as it was neither nice nor clean. I used a combination of new fabric, thrifted fabrics (corduroy, cotton, upholstery, an old pair of pants and a men's shirt etc.) and block printed fabrics. I used lino block prints of the oudjat eyes, radiolarians, jellyfish, frog & lily pad, koi, seahorse, walrus, dragon and blue whales. I also used one old screen print of the sun.

AFTER:

I like it. Hope you do too. Smiley

Aww!  The fabrics are so fun and vibrant -- what a change!!

Reconstructed is more for projects changing one object into another (Have you turned that beautiful, avocado-green, vintage blender into a lamp yet? What are you waiting for?), so I'm gonna scoot this over to Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General.

I've a chair I'd like to redo, but I have so many fabrics I want to use, I've been putting it off. . . but now. . . well, if I do manage to make some time to get the chair to look snappy, I'll post a picture here.

I lurve your chair.

That is really cool - I wonder if it will inspire me to cover my couch, I have been putting it off for SOO long.

That chair is amazing!  I just moved into a new aparment and my living room looks a bit sparse, so I feel inspired to go searching through the trash now.
