Does anyone have any great online fabric sources they want to share with the group?  (Other than the obvious national chains and eBay).  There are so many fabulous bags with fabulous fabrics on the completed projects board--I know you aren't all finding this stuff at JoAnns and WalMart!

Here are two of mine:

reprodepot.com and contemporarycloth.com

happy bagmaking,
Karen

I love the clearance section of Hancocks of Paducah's website:

http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/SubCategory--Discounted-Quilting-Fabrics--m-02_6.html

You need to check back often becuase you never know what they will have.

for cheap fabrics I reccomend Ikea, if theres one near you, (if not take a day trip!)  Im lucky as I live near a big fabric store, im sure others can help recommend some stores too?
Ebay is quite fun to search through too, but hard to find really good stuff sometimes.

I tend to buy mine from a fabric shop in the town where I work, but this week I've been snowed in so haven't been able to go Sad

I've not found any good online stores yet. And I didn't even know Ikea sold fabric, but my nearest one is Glasgow which is about a 3 hour drive away.

I got some black with pink polka potted fabric off ebay, but it tends be be hard to find nice stuff like Glimmer said. Plus it is usually more expensive than a fabric shop.

I buy most of my fabric from local shops, it kinda helps that I work in a fabric shop  Roll Eyes but for ages I thought there were hardly any fabric shops nearby, then I searched yell.com for fabric and found tonnes!  It does depend what sort of fabric your looking for though, as most tend to be very furnishings-focussed  Undecided  However if its bag-making your into, I find curtain fabric stronger and easier to work with than most dress fabrics anyway!

www.cheapfabric.co.uk looks impressive.. though I've not tried them out yet.

Good luck!

Hello,
I am so happy to find this space. Sometimes I feel I out of space when I say that I like to make some of my own clothing. I need help. Can you guys tell me a good place(s) to get fabric and other supplies (ribbons, threads, etc) at a reasonable price? Sometimes the bigmegastores can be so overpriced.. Embarrassed . DE, PA areas or even on line.
I am tired of paying a gazillion dollars for a tiny baby piece of ribbon or fabric. Thank you guys. And may I say this site is sensational!
Tks

Though it has its many drawbacks, I find that Walmart is a good source of inexpensive materials.

I have signed up with Joanns to receive their mailer.  That way I know about upcoming sales.  When they put thread on for 50% off, I go and stock up.

If you have any thrift stores in your area, it is always good to check those out.  It is amazing what people will give away.  Garage sales are also a good thing.  Keep in mind you don't always have to get an individual piece of ribbon or something.  Look at garments or other items as a source of material.  I have bought so many silk shirts that I would have no hope of ever fitting in just so I could cut them up to make something else.
