I was a very happy participant of an awesome personal swap with atsuko (i got a button maker!!!!) and she asked me for a poppet. The poppet will be for her daughter's BFF which i hope she absolutely loves.

this little girl was super sweet to make and, even though i had some headaches (and i'm sure she did too), i was able to get her finished. i went trough 2 heads and plenty of not-quite hair wefts! she came together beautifully! i am so in love with her!

with her i have learned that i cannot sew outfits! i kid you not, i sat in front of that sewing machine for hours and came up with nothing except piles of waisted fabric! i finally had a duh Roll Eyes moment and crochet her this little dress (which took me maybe 15 minutes).

i also bought some little accessories but did not take pictures of them...

thanks to ghilie for the pattern and here is the poppet along if you want to tackle a poppet.

You did such a great job on the poppet but have trouble with the outfits. Interesting. I imagine that's is really frustrating.
Try some Seams Great or Stitch Witchery from the notions wall precut into 1/4 inch roll. I wouldn't trust it to hold my clothes together but doll clothes it works really well.
The poppet is adorable. atsuko is going to need a separate house for all her poppets.

What a lovely poppet.  how cute.

You've spured me on to learn crochet as knitted items for the 2 poppets in our household will be great.

Oh, how sweet! And the crocheted dress works really well! Very sweet!

I only use stitch witchery for hems (to hold my edges straight. xD More expensive than pins, but I don't suck as bad with it...) But I'm sure I'll invest for some for christmasy-poppet clothes!
