i bought a really cute vintage "tent dress" from etsy a few months ago.  i was so excited to get it, but when i tried it on, it was SO NOT CUTE.  example:

it made me feel like roseanne! but it showed promise and i knew i could make something out of it. so the first thing i did was to take up the length to a place where it hit me better.

then the neck started to choke me.  something had to be done! (ignore the cracked-out look here)

after that, it still felt a little too tenty, so i did a dart in the back to make it a little more fitted.

i love that necklace with the top.  i might make it even more fitted, or wear a big belt right under the bust to give it more shape, but for a first recon, i was very pleased.  i wore it out last night on a date with my boyfriend, and he LOVED it.  i hope you enjoy seeing it as much as i enjoyed making it!

From frumpy to fabulous, what a fantastic transformation! And I so enjoyed your post, you have a great gift there, kiddo!

Wow, you took that top a long way! The blue portion looks way better at your waist instead of your knees. And the neckline is much more flattering. (by the way- is that a vintage looking red cross curtain in the background? It's so cool whatever it is I must replicate it into a pillow!)
Those who say it can't be done shouldn't interrupt the person doing it.
