"The way we eat has an enormous impact on the health of the planet. By choosing to eat lower on the food chain, and focusing on local and organic produce, we can curb global warming and air pollution, avoid toxic pesticides, support local farmers and enjoy fresh, tasty food."

What do YOU think about this?

I totally agree. I try to eat in season and local if possible. During the warm months I ride my bike to the farmers market for groceries. Since I live in a cold climate it means I eat a lot of beans in the winter, but nice hearty soup is great in winter. I'm hardly strict about it, though. I do love fruit and still buy fresh fruit every once in awhile during the winter.
I also grow my own food. I have potatoes, strawberries and a few varieties of peppers. Next year I'd like to get an apple tree and try growing some squash and perhaps eggplant.

It makes a lot of sense. Local food that is in season will taste the best. Have you ever tried a grocery store tomato in February?
