well i'd like someone to help me out here
i really like this pattern on this scarf: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/august-is-for-jack

& i was wondering do your double knit, and if not wht do you do?

The pattern is available as a free PDF.

I would not double-knit it because what double knitting does is reverse the colors on the opposite side.  I think it would be a pain to work in dk. too.

If you want both sides to show the RS, you might consider making it wider and then seaming the side.

It's not done with the double knitting technique, just using different colors and slipping some sts of one color so the will appear to be in the row of the other color.
