Um, yeah.  I fell off the Tour de Fleece.  Oh well.  I have been spinning, though, and here's what I've got for this week's Fiber Friday:

Corespun Locky yarn - Corespun and spun from locks! Hence the name!  Smiley

Battacular - Travis and I got to play with a drum carder a few weeks ago, and here's one of the yarns I spun up from some of the batts (115 yards and 11.7 ounces for the two skeins):

Tropic of Cancer - this was the first time I dyed and spun bamboo!  7 ounces, 242 yards.

And Beachybun, a 4 ounces merino superwash singly ply spun from some Lovesticks roving:

Yay for spinning, albeit not so much with the whole organized event thing.  Smiley

lufah, beautiful yarns as always.  I especially like Tropic of Cancer.  I need to figure out how to spin bamboo more smoothly.

Here's my one yarn for this week.  Not terribly exciting but I'm very pleased with it because it was exactly what i was hoping for!

4 oz, 290 yards/265 meters, Merino/Tencell blend.  It's about a DK/sport weight and it is "navajo"/chain plied.  I have another 4 oz to spin and I'm hoping to get the same-ish results.

Lufah, your yarns are gorgeous.  I especially love the bamboo!  I also dropped out of Tour de Fleece...  After about 2 days!
But here are the yarns I've spun recently.  The first is a batt from hollyeqq, plied with sparkly thread.  I found the batt a bit hard to spin because it was just so textured, but it's a really soft yarn, so I'm happy.

The second is made of two Loop! babycakes batts, spun in stripes.  I loooove it, it's so soft and sparkly.  I think I'll weave it into a scarf whenever I figure out what to use as warp.

(the picture is pre-washing, so it was a bit twisty still)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's yarn!

Always such pretty yarns Smiley I look forward to Friday to see them every week!
Lufah - Love Tropic of Cancer & Battacular!
the noodle princess - <3 the tea party!

I have two this week Smiley

"Rainbows"  made from 6 baby cakes from Loop. The package just screamed rainbow at me Tongue
It is approximately 144 yds of 2-ply & 3.1 oz. It would not fit back onto a single bobbin when plyed & has encouraged me to finally buy a jumbo flyer Smiley (Which arrived the day after I payed for it... that's great service!)

This is my fave pic of the spin in progress!

This is a 2-ply + thread yarn spun with "Jay" handpainted BFL roving from Cloudlover69. We have lots of Steller Jays around here... they are really loud at times and can be funny to watch. This is my first yarn spun with the new jumbo flyer (and I was so excited that it would all fit on one bobbin!)  Approx. 132 yds, 4.25 oz.

Happy Friday!

Wow, lots of colorful yarns so far this week... I always like seeing lots and lots of colors. Anyway, here's what I have for the past month or so:

The top is superwash that I used for more practice in Navajo plying, so it's probably worsted weight. The bottom is some fleece artist silk/merino:

More superwash merino... I dyed a bunch of it up green and blue and this was the result. The picture, unfortunately, makes it seem a lot brighter than it really is, the colors are more subdued but I can't get that to show up on camera:

These two are made up of leftover bits of roving I dyed, spun really thick and thin so it's pretty bulky:

And last, I posted this yarn I dyed/spun a few weeks ago, and the socks I made out of it came out great:

That's all for me.

Everyone's yarn looks wonderful  Cheesy.

Mint Toffee Chip - This one was technically from last week, but I didn't get it posted. It's green merino with chocolate and toffee bamboo.

Mardi Gras - Spun from a Mardi Gras batt by TerraBellaSpun

Here Fishy Fishy - I'm currently working on finishing this one. It's my first attempt at plying with thread, and I'm throwing in some sequins. For some reason you can only see one sequin in that photo, but there are many more haha. It's spun from roving by Muzzlepuffs on Etsy.

I've had an exciting week. My baby brother was born over last weekend and I finally finished a yarn. Though when you see it you will wonder why I took so long.

This is 2 yards of BFL. Mullerslanefarm sent me tons of fiber and this was some of it. a small amount of it. lol This was an experiment in plying. It's 2 plys of bfl, and one of silver thread.
Probably a bulky or worsted. It's not super thick.

And these are still on the spindles but I thought posting them might make me finish them.

The blue is BFL the white is merino. I've been spinning that merino since last year. It was 1/2 of my fiber stash. But I am finally almost done with it. Smiley I taught my crafty BFF to spin and sent her home with a full bag of fiber as well as spindles and a carder. (I use dog brushes.)  She spun one ply of my brown up there I spun the other and then plied the whole thing.

I think I may try plying with beads next and I'm thinking about braiding my 2 yards of bfl and thread and making it a bracelet. lol.

(the fleece was still wet when this picture was taken)
I didn't get any spinning done this week.. I've been torturing myself with a shawl... but I did dye some blue faced leicester in bright candy colors in hopes of spinning some bright stripy sock yarn.
Everyones yarns are beautiful as always.. and I love your socks lyme..!!

Lyme - those socks are great!

Here are mine for this week. The first is a 2 ply (about DK weight) called 'Atomic Watermelon'.  Its superwash merino and about 70 yards

This is a mini skein of about 40 yards of a single that I got from playing with a drum carder.  I think I carded too much because the colours are muddy.  I call this one ...erm...'Cat Yak'.

Here's my big fat skein for this week!

540 yards (!!!!!!) of mostly light fingering weight, with areas of lace to sport... it's a wool blend, possibly merino x corrie? from Maine Woods Yarn, in colorway Vineyard. This is my third yarn spun on my Ashford Kiwi.

I work in my mom's yarn store and we carry a lot of really unique and unusual yarns, but I've never seen anything like what you've done here! Great job!

Hi, punkmandi!  Here are some links to get bamboo fiber:

Woolery:  http://www.woolery.com/Pages/fibers.html#exotic

Paradise Fibers:  http://www.paradisefibers.net/Bamboo-Spinning-Fiber-s/358.htm

You have to dye it with cellulose dyes (Procion MX) instead of acid dyes, which don't work at all.  It's more of a pain in the butt to dye, but completely worth it, because the colors are amazing!

And thanks about the other yarn, too - a friend came over with all sorts of fun goodies (and a Pat Green drum carder), so all sorts of fun stuff (like the faux pearls and sequins, etc) wound up in the batts.
