I'm going to a pretty formal wedding this fall and the ceremony is going to be outside in the early evening.  I'd like to make something pretty to keep me warm as my wardrobe is seriously lacking in the warm formal wear department. Roll Eyes  I can't decide what to make though.  I picked out a few patterns that I like.  Which one is your favorite and which do you think would look best on me?

(mods, I posted a similar question earlier, feel free to merge them, if you'd like.  thanks!)

Here's the dress I'm planning to wear - it's my fave anthropologie little black dress, made from cotton eyelet.  (sorry for the poor pic quality - I was having trouble with my camera.  I think it's getting ready to die on me. Sad)

Here are some patterns that I picked out and like, but I'm having trouble choosing between them.

1. Juno Regina - It's pretty and I like that I could wear it as a shawl or scarf.
2. Hug-Me-Tight from Knit 2 Together - looks cozy!
3. I Do - so pretty!  I think I'd change the sleeves, though.
4. Simple Knitted Bodice - I love the details and neckline and the fact that it's form fitting.
5. Shimmer - I like the sleeves and back detail.

Thanks so much!

#4 by far is my most favorite. I also like #5, but not as much as #4.

I'd try and keep away from something super patterned because your dress has a cute pattern already. But I think #4 would be nice because it's not going to try and rival your dress pattern. Your dress would be a nice background for it. Plus I like the sparkle too, but that is just me.  Cheesy #5 might be a little lighter of a choice since it doesn't cover as much of your body. Sometimes fall weather is still rather warm to be wearing a full sweater like item such as #4. If you are the kind of person who gets cold easy, I say go for #4. If you get warm easily, I'd say go for #5. Keep in mind where you will be also. If it's going to be in a small building/room then all those bodies my heat up the space and make you roast. Good luck and post a pic when you are done!!!!

Woo, a multiple choice question! I really love #2. I think it would go perfect with that dress. As for #4, I think that is really awesome and I say knit it anyway. I just think #2 goes with the dress better.

Huh  Okay, here is my thought process on this.  :-)  The dress is gorgeous (btw) and I think that's because of two main things.  It's simply elegant in its form and fit.  And it has that lovely pattern that does not over-power the simplicity but still sends it just over that edge from boring to wow.  So because of that, I wouldn't truly feel comfortable matching any of those options (as is) with the dress.  I think you could modify 1, 2, or 4 though to go beautifully.  I would lean towards 4.  If you did that in a deep color (non-variegated) like aubergine (or whatever deep color you like) and kept the detail to just the bodice and not the sleeves (or maybe just an edge of the sleeve).  It looks like the detail mimics the pattern on the dress pretty well or you could fuss with that if you want/are able.  I also really prefer that one because you can wear it for the ceremony and then take it off for the reception/dancing.  With 1 or 2, I would just be careful to keep the details to a minimum.  I think it would look best if the wrap accented what is wonderful about the dress and didn't fight it.  JMHO.
