I'm making the Holding Hands, Feeding Ducks scarf and I'm having trouble with the star stitch. (Pattern: http://atimetoknit.blogspot.com/2007/10/holding-hands-feeding-ducks-pattern.html)
The part I don't understand is what to do with the p3tog stitch that I originally left on the left hand needle. Do I pick it up on my right hand needly after wrapping the yarn? or do I p it together with the other three stitches?
TIA for your help (:

You purl the 3 stitches together and leave those three on the left needle, yarn over, and then purl those same three stitches again and drop them off the left needle. You're removing three stitches from the left needle and making three stitches on the right that way (net result, no decrease or increase).

so the p3tog stitch- the one that ends up on my right needle in the first place- stays on the right hand needle? then a YO, then p3tog with the same three stitches.
so it would be the same if the pattern said...
P3 tog but leave stitches on left needle, while transferring the created stitch to the right hand needle as normal. Wrap yarn around the working needle once, then purl the same 3 stitches together again.
