Hello everyone,

I'm interested in making facial scrubs. I've seen some nice recipes for sugar and salt scrubs. Are these types of scrubs ok to use on the face or just the body? Does anyone know a simple recipe for a sugar or salt scrub to use on the face? What are the benifits of using sugar or salt in the scrub? Is one better than the other?

A craft a day keeps the stabbiness away.

Here's some other posts about scrubs with lots of replies!

There are lots more if you do a search for "scrubs" and limit search to current board only

To answer your question simply, most people prefer to only use sugar on the face, since it is less scratchy, and to be careful of using salt scrubs on any skin that may be broken (cuts or scrapes, freshly shaved legs) since it will sting. I don't know that one is "better" than the other, just have different properties. If you don't have any cuts on your feet, but lots of dead skin and stuff, salt will probably exfoliate better there than sugar.

An easy peasy recipe to use for your face is brown sugar (or whatever kind you prefer) with an oil apropriate for your skin type. You can't really mess it up, just add the oil to the sugar to completely moisten it, and then a little extra if you like. It will separate but just stir it up well when you want to use it.

A really easy facial scrub is honey and sugar. Mix a small amount and use more honey than sugar. Does wonders for your skin
