in the middle of june
on a hot, hot, hot day
a teenager wanted
to go out and play.

the trouble with that is,
the sun was so bright
that she'd burn til she melted.
that didn't seem right.

so she checked on her craftster
to make the time fly
when she came across something
she couldn't pass by.

"a challenge!" she cried.
she just needed a hero.
but as far as ideas went,
this child had zero.

so she thought and she thought
til her gears were all loose.
"my hero," she said
"is of course, dr. seuss."

then she painted and molded
and learned to crochet
and whipped up three crafts
in a couple of days.

the first was the lorax,
who had a new home
on the trees in her yard.
he had no need to roam.

the next was a pendant
of polymer clay.
it looked rather familiar
now, wouldn't you say?

and last was a painting
she did on a shirt
and after she finished,
her hands sure did hurt.

she used her acrylics
and freehanded a lot.
and as proud as she was of it
brag, she did not.

so when she had finished
she laid in her bed
and she kicked off her shoes
and she rested her head.

and although she did not
get her chance to go play
she felt rather glad
that she'd crafted that day.

(if you have any questions
and rhymes just won't do,
i'm happy to give out
the answers to you.)

Dr. Seuss would SO agree.

That's just too cute!  I love the pendant- think I might have to make a few small ones as earrings! The shirt is fantastic... have you tested it in the wash at all? I'm curious how acrylics would hold up.  I did one shirt in acrylics before, and it did fade a bit, but I'd only splatter painted on it.

thanks, yall.

originally, i was going to make cat in the hat earrings, but i got a little too happy with the clay and it turned out too big for earrings.

i had worked really hard on it, though, so i settled for a pendant. i'll make earrings next, for sure.

i haven't washed the shirt yet, no.

the shirt didn't fit anyway.
so i don't plan on wearing it.

i just wanted to paint on something other than paper, but i was fresh out of canvases.

i saw the little preview on the main page and was like "The Lorax!?!?"
that was one of my favorites.

ohhh that Lorax is just so huggable!  Everything is great, but I want that Lorax!  Fantastic job - and the rhyming post made it even better!

You are incredibly talented!  Your projects are awesome in their own right but, your Seuss-esque rhyme just totally takes it to a whole nother level! Cheesy  The Lorax is one of my favorites.  Fantastic job!
