I just got some "yarn" that is Yarn Bee brand and it's called Aurora. It's kind of flat and velvety, almost like ribbon, and has these little sparkly bits. I was going to make a scarf with it but I'm using a single crochet stitich and not loving the way it's coming out. Can anyone advise me on the best stitch for this type of yarn?

Try pairing it with another yarn and use the biggest hook you have.

Thanks. I never thought of doing a combo. Should I use regular worsted weight you think, or something finer? Any particular type of stitch or is the single crochet the way to go? It doesn't want to drape, it just lays there like a dead fish.  Sad

I would maybe play around with it and try different stitches.

Single crochet is a pretty compact, dense stitch - Try using trebles or an openwork pattern like Solomon's Knot.

These are good ideas. I was wondering about a different pattern stitich but I couldn't think of anything. I'll have to look up Solomon's knot. I've never heard of that one.

If I can get it to work out, I'll try to post a pic of it here.  Smiley
