whew, i was on such a crafting roll today... i finished up a couple of items that were sitting by my sewing machine just waiting to be finished and this is one of them. it is a pink skirt with an elastic waistband and a gathered bit at the hem. the skirt still looked plain so i added a little flower applique above the gather. the pink fabric was really see-through so the skirt is lined with white/cream fabric.

I ain't here to break it...
just see how far it will bend.

Aw, that's so pretty!
I've looked at all of your creations, and they are all so gorgeous.
The little gather and applique make it even cuter, and, would i be right in saying that it matched your toenails?
When it was on the floor, i thought it would be really long, but it's the perfect length!

I want your lungs to stop working without me.

if it's not too much trouble, could you tell how you did the measurements for a gathered waist? i know it'd take more fabric than how much my waist meaures but i dont know how much to multiply it by. if that's even how it works. if there's a certain technique you used and you dont mind sharing it'd be GREAT!
i'm planning to make a skirt with a gathered wait sometime in the near future.  Cheesy

edit: how rude, i didnt even mention how much i LOVE your skirt. just in time for valentines day. Smiley my favorite part is the little gather at the bottom! very pretty.

Great job, I love how you gathered it, and the little applique!  Smiley

aww, thanks everyone for all the great comments... Grin
ilovegenewilder-basically you just measure your waist/hips (where ever you want your skirt to sit) and add about 4" then hem the top down about 1" or so leaving part of it open so you can thread elastic through. i left the bottom unhemmed for a more rough/homemade feel. this skirt works really well with light/flimsy fabric that has lots of movement. you could also try using 2-3 layers to make it look more full.
