Hi.  I painted this for my husband's home office.  His birthday is in a couple of weeks and he is starting a new Apple consulting business.  He is going to be so surprised!  If anyone has made a floor canvas before, what kind of varnish did you use?  Did it keep the dirt off?

Oh great job! I've never done one. Did you use canvas? Are the edges folded and glued?

There is something I've heard about varnish... which type to use so it doesn't yellow - but I can't remember... did you search HGTV? I think thats where I've seen them done before.

*ehow says water-based varnish FYI*

So cool!   I just sent the link to my husband!   Also, since he is such a fanboy I am emailing you a pic of the time I dyed the logo into the back of his hair.

That looks super.  I've made a few of these and I use water based urethane to seal them....the stuff that's used on floors.  I think they recommend the oil based product to prevent yellowing but I don't like to use it myself.  I've never used a lot of white so maybe that would affect your decision?

Anyhow, it's a bit addictive so I'm sure you'll be doing more  Cheesy

I love how you used the little "Finder" face!

And, someone's husband had the logo DYED into his HAIR?!

I just watched an episode on HGTV Design Remix where she painted a drop cloth to put over top an existing run and I think she said seal it with a coat of varnish. ?
