I made this pattern ages ago but could never think of the right thing to do with it, and then I found this hoodie (which I don't fit into damnit!)

I scored this hoodie down at the local opshop and thought it would be perfect to stitch on. Dunno if any of you have stitched on polar fleece but it is one of my favourites. It has just that right level of fluffiness to hold the floss really well. Sometimes when you use waste fabric in this way it leaves the floss sitting a bit out from the fabric and it never looks quite as good as while you were stitching it. But polar fleece solves that issue beautifully. And even better it gives it a cute little wonkiness which just proves it wasnt done by a boring ol machine!

I did use some different variations on the colours compared to what it says in the pattern (cause I didnt have them on me), just lighter versions. If anyone wants to know the specific colours, let me know and Ill go look them up. Using the lighter colours worked really well against the grey and they seem to glow a bit. Im super happy with how that worked out.

And the hoodie itself is really cool. It has that great ski hood neck going on so you keep super warm. And it has nice long arms and body. AND it has pockets (with hidden zips) so its a useful garment! What is it with womens clothing not having pockets, or even worse, fake pockets? Thats just stupid. And it didnt have anything written on it which is rare in this day and age, so a super find!

The pattern is on my website if anyone wants to use it http://radicalcrossstitch.com/2007/12/27/a-belated-chrissy-present/  It's on a creative commons license so go nuts.

Awesome! I'm in the process of making a polar fleece zip-up hoodie in that exact same color of fleece. I really love the shape of the hoodie on yours.... I just might have to take it!  Tongue

And that pattern is awesome. I'm interning at a Girl Scout camp this summer, so I should be able to find some lovely person to make it for. ...Or maybe I'll just make it for myself!  Grin

Great job!

That is so massively awesome! Not only did you score a really amazing hoodie, but the design is gorgeous and badass. I haven't tried cross-stitch since my childhood attempts, but I'm feeling very inspired now. I might just try your design. Thank you for sharing it!

The pattern design is lovely. I personally would have made it larger, but I can imagine that would have been a lot of work for one little design. Smiley How cool is it that you used a stereotypically old-fashioned craft to express a feministic viewpoint? I like it.
