Love the alligator-he looks like he is doing some funky dance.

hey--
for the idea about stitching first on a patch and then sewing that on...does the felt hold up in the wash? do you have to use a special sort of felt or is craft felt okay? thanks!

I have been using wool felt that TreeCactus [/color]suggested in the Question/Discussion forum . . .

"If you're looking for wool felt, I'd suggest the 12X18 sample pieces at Wooly Thread. They come in great colors. You can also order by the yard, depending on how big your project is."

I haven't washed it yet but it seems like all felt pills and needs to be shaved. Here is the discussion on it.

I must seem crazy but I just was looking for all the very same info like last week. I just received my felt and love working on it. I hope it turns out okay.

Good luck with it if you try it too.

I'm pretty sure that all felt pills.  You might also want to think about if you're making a shirt for a baby or toddler, you might want to use acrylic felt just in case they're allergic.  The patch will be sewn onto the shirt so it won't be in contact with their stomach, but their arms might rub against the patch and if they are allergic that won't be too pleasant.  I'm allergic to wool so I always end up using acrylic anyway.  I've used it to make some shirts for my 3 y.o. and it does pill but still doesn't look bad.

Currently taking a hiatus from swapping.  Sad

I've always wondered what disease cured ham had.
