greetings everyone.
so i am preparing to visit my friend and her 5 month old baby boy. i wanted to make him something extra special. this was my first real quilt.....i did a tiny wall quilt, but never 'quilted' it.

so i used 5 muted colors in cotton calico for the top & a a poly/cotton blend for the backing & binding.

i used the warm & natural batting. it was SO easy to use! and it gave the quilt just the right weight that i wanted.

this pattern was really easy i saw it on america quilts creatively in pbs.  you just cut strips selvage to selvage & sew them up until it looks like a bunch of long skinny layers (kinda like a layer cake from the side) & then you cut patchwork strips....does that make sense?

i satin stitched lil Victor's name on a piece of calico on the backing.  I also gave my first go round at free motion embroidery.... it was late at night & i was super tired......so it didn't turn out so lovely, but i just went over it a few more times with stitching....i think next time i draw my design on the fabric....oh well

my man designed the stuffed fish/shark & i blanket stitched some fins & dimpled the mouth. the fabrics match the blanket.

oh yeah, i am also giving mi Amiga a diaper stuffer that hangs up with a hanger in the matching golden fabric.
i am so stoked to give all this to them!!

comments, criticism, or questions are welcome!

thanks friends!

I love the colors.  My best friend made my daughter a quilt for her first birthday and I cried!  I just couldn't believe the time and effort she took for my little one.  I'm sure it will be loved for a long time.
