Seething shadows
breathing lies . . .
You can fool
any friend who
ever knew you!
Leering satyrs,
peering eyes . . .
Run and hide -
but a face will
still pursue you!

now that i'm done with that...

our annual band banquet is coming up tomorrow,
and it's a masquerade. (if you hadn't figured that out yet...)

i decided to channel my inner craftster and make my own mask.

i'll probably be the only one who actually goes to any trouble...

but us craftsters don't care one way or the other, do we?

anywho.. my dress is a lovely shade of purple as well as a cream-ish white.

and here's my mask.

i cut it out of a paper plate, then brushed it with glue and covered it with glitter, which was all over my clothes, face, and kitchen by the end of the night.

i glued each individual sequin around the bottom and the eyes, then glued the feathers into place. then the rhinestones, also individually.

then i glued another piece of paper plate the the back for strength, and to make it look more finished.

i'm realllllly pleased with how it turned out.

oh... and here are a few pictures of my dogs swimming.. just for good measure. :]

peanut.. not so great at swimming.

and riley... practically a fish.

Great job with using a paper plate instead of one of the forms you can buy. I'd love to see an action shot with the dress.

Loved your mask. What did you do to make the ripple for the nose in the middle? We have a mask pattern here if anyone needs one along with our version of a homemade mask http://www.freekidscrafts.com/mardi_gras_mask-e252.html
