Okay...I lost my father last year in a very sudden manner. I am getting married in 26 days on a Toronto Morning Television show.

The host is going to be escorting me down the aisle.

My SO and I have 2 DD and I feel uncomfortable having the Father Daughter dance with any one else but my dad. I told my SO i would want him to dance with our daughters instead.

Can you recommend a song appropriate to share with 2 girls (ages 10 and 6). They will probably both dance at least 1 verse with their dad.

I really don't care much for "Daddy's little girl"....any ideas?

Thanks

Rainbow Connection? Somewhere Over The Rainbow? Or ask your girls what they think is a good idea. Smiley

Are you getting married on BT???

I really like that one as it is perfect for both hubby and my dad.

Thanks for the suggestions. You can keep them coming if there are others.

Eric Clapton- Wonderful Tonight

I really detest songs like butterfly kisses and such that are all flowery, cutesy, and will most likely make me cry so I chose Wonderful Tonight. It's supposed to be a love song but really, isn't that what parents feel for their kids too?

...It's late in the evening
She's wonderin' what clothes to wear
She puts on her make-up
And brushes her long blonde hair

And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say yes, you look wonderful tonight...

There's a country song that my sister used to really like... it was called something like "I think about you"... basically it's a dad singing about how he looks at the world and thinks about his daughter

There are lots of country and new country songs that fit this description (I've only heard them at weddings though so I don't know the names).  I recommend just digging around on-line for a song that you feel has appropriate and meaningful lyrics.

Paul Simon sings a nice song. I think it is called Father and Daughter. The chorus goes like this:
"I'm gonna watch you shine
 gonna watch you grow
 gonna paint a sign
 so you'll always know
as long as one and one is two
there will never be a father
who loved is daughter as much as I love you."

My dad always maintained we would dance to Warren Zevon's "Tenderness on the block"
