heh... have fun!

http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/p  The wide wide world of poncho links...

This was a super quick and easy poncho that I did today ~ I need to make at least 2 more toddler/child sized ponchos so my girls will stop fighting over it now:

Toddler Poncho

Columbia-Minerva, "Big & Little Crochets" Leaflet 2519, 1970

Fits Sizes 4 to 10

MATERIALS:  Columbia-Minerva Knitting worsted  (4 oz pull skein) OR Nantuk 4-ply knitting yarn (2 or 4 oz pull skein): 4 ozs

"Boye" crochet hook size "I"

Gauge: 1 mesh and 1 sc to 1 inch

Starting at top ch 51.
Row 1: 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each of next 5 ch, * 2 dc in next ch, 1 dc in each of next 6 ch, repeat from 6 times more-54 dc. Join with a sl st to top of ch-3 at start. Do not turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, work * 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * 8 times more, work to end-63 dc, join.

Row 3: * Ch 3, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc, repeat from * around, end ch 3, 1 sc in joining. Mark beg of rows.

Rows 4, 5, & 6: * Ch 4, 1 sc in next loop, repeat from * around.

Row 7: * (Ch 4, 1 sc in next loop) 15 times, ch 4, 1 sc in next sc for an inc, repeat from * once more.

Rows 8 through 20: Repeat Row 4. Fasten off. Crochet 1 row of sc on top edge.

Fringe: Cut four 16-inch strands. Fold in half and draw loop through mesh on last row then draw ends through loop and tighten. Repeat fringe in every mesh.

*************  Note: I found that chaining 51 did not give me a good sized neck no matter which yarn or needle I tried (Tried up to a K), so I increased it to 58.

That's Red Heart's "monet".

I missed the crochetalong for this, and probably won't get to making one for another month (other projects have got to be completed!!!) but I AM GOING TO MAKE This!!

my question? Can I use another bulky yarn? Like a Lionbrand chunky yarn?  just wondering since my yarn options are limited here.
