this post being my first i'll try to get it right

this year was my senior prom and i decided to go out with a bang and what better way than with a pop tab dress!

i put my networking skills to work and had family and friends saving me pop tabs for months... however, because i was making dresses for other girls and their and vests for their dates my dress was finished at noon the day of prom
Procrastinator? i think not Smiley

Due to my unique personality i was going to go stag but i found a friend and who was willing to be my date so i made his tie too :]

without further ado the final product

-Dress: 4,296 pop tabs
-Purse: 357 pop tabs
-Shoes, necklace, and hair: 189 pop tabs
-Date's tie: 247 pop tabs

excuse the goofy expression

***disclaimer: beware if you are shy and plan on making a dress from pop tabs, people will want to fondle you Cheesy***

feedback would be greatly appriciated

thanks for looking,
       ~*atypical ismene

ps: pictures of the full length and back coming soon i'm on break at work :]

oh goodness thank you all so much for your comments Shocked
i'm so sorry it's taken this long ladies and gents (if there are indeed any gents that commented)

i'll try to answer all of your questions

Dress/ Lining Questions: ok as to the dress part i made a seperate dress w/ a zipper out of tangeriene satin from my own pattern, i then put this inside the assembled pop tab dress then at the top and side with the zipper i whipstiched the under dress to the pop tab part

Colored Pop Tab Question: I used plain old silver pop tabs however i used this stuff called incredible (lion brand ribbon yarn) to weave the tabs together

How Are They Held Together Question: they are woven with the stuff i mentioned above i was inspired by this post https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=111145.10 and my imagination went wild from there

How Much Did It Weigh Question: even though it was made of metal it was very light because well go figure aluminium is light

How Long Did It Take Question: i started weaving pop tabs together when on bus trips with various high school organizations, but i can't take all the credit my dad pitched in A LOT as for putting the whole thing together less than a week

Was It Uncomfortable Question: no it suprisingly wasn't because of the way the pop tabs were out together all the rough edges were facing one another and when i sat down i just scrunched it up

DAHS Question: indeed i am that girl :] if you'd like to see my dress up close and personal trousuex (sp?) the dress shop on the boulevard is featuring all the prom splendor and other creations of mine the week of June 23rd

(sorry for the links i understand the rule but it still kind of stinks)

Hair picture as done by the lovely roxannenicole:

Kinda goofy picture of the back:

Close up of the tabs on me:

Close up of tab "fabric":

Full length picture with the camo dress and vest i made:

Another kinda goofy full length picture:

i apologize i sadly don't have any pictures of the shoes themselves or the purse alone  Cry

as always any feedback is appriciated and if i missed your question don't hesitate to speak up

thanks for looking and sorry again for the delay,

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

That is sooo cool and i love the fact that you used rainbow elastic to sting it all together, you did use that right because that's what it looks like and i love it. at The prom you must have turned some heads and i wish i could make somthing like that.

Dance as though no one is watching you; love as though you have never been hurt before, sing as though no one can hear you, live as though heaven is on earth.
