Here's my situation... I met with the ladies of my family yesterday and my aunt is throwing a baby shower for her DIL in July.  I have a very limited budget for this, so I want to start planning now so that I can craft some items while Walmart Fabric Dept has everything on clearance.

One of my aunts is making a diaper cake, another is quilting a blanket so those ideas are out the window.  My cousin's wife is very high maintenance and I know she will want very nice things for the baby.  She is naming her Ava and is doing up her room in pink and brown.

So far I have come up with the ideas of:

Painted wooden letters with hanging ribbons (so glad I came across that post this morning)

Fancy burp cloths

Can you think of anything else I can craft with a few yards or less of fabric?  I so hope she likes what I make... if all else fails, I can always say that they came from a boutique..lol.

I'd go with the fancy burp clothes, as I'm partial to making those myself.  Another idea is a small taggie blanket.  They're simple to make and babies really love them.  you could also make some trendy bibs as well.

How about one of these?

I don't believe anyone on here has figured out exactly how to do this (or at least there's no tutorial), but I have it on my list as a definite "to try" some time in the future.   Smiley  It looks like it might only take a couple of yards of fabric and some covered piping as the drawstring.  There are a few hints in the replies to the original post, so read them all.  It shouldn't be too hard, but then again, I haven't tried it myself.  It is certainly a cute idea, though.  Your fabric choice could make this look very boutique-- just right for the diva.   Wink
