There have been many arguments over what this thing was originally intended to be- I thought it was a kitchen hutch, and used it as such in my last place.  My mom thought it was part of a computer desk, and a friend thought it was a headboard.  When we moved (to a place with a lot of kitchen cupboards and a garage for "adult space"), my husband decided it is now a bar.  I agreed.  Here are before pics:

A few coats of mod podge and 1 tarot deck later (a deck he had lost a couple cards out of and replaced a couple times- he usually never loses tarot cards- it's just something about this one deck)

close up of the left side of print (sorry about this)

and the right side

I'm not completely done.......I'd like to print out recipes for various drinks in a cool font and mod podge them to the top- my husband is not so sure about this.  I am also going to make lighter cozys with velcro attached and put velcro on the sides of the bar to hold them.  What do you think?  Any other ideas?

That is awesome!

I think it was a water bed headboard. It makes a great bar!

That is fantastic .. and it looks like the top of a country hutch/buffet to me. Looks much better as a bar.

I was gonna say that too.  I used to have one just like it but darker.  It does make a good bar too though.

Whatever it was, it looks good now!  The cards came up beautifully - and the quote at the bottom is very fitting.

If your other half's not sure about permanently attaching the drinks recipes, could you put them under a sheet of glass (or that clear stick-on plastic stuff - Contact??) so you take them off if you don't like it, or want to update the recipes?

No longer online regularly - if you need to contact me, try tweeting @artsieaspie.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

That is a good idea.  I don't think contact paper would work very well as far as being able to remove them but a sheet of hard plastic or plexi-glass or something is a great idea.  Thanks!

I have something like this in white. It can go on top of a dresser or a buffet. It seems awfully small to be for a bed unless it's a single but you never know. I saw one  used in a bathroom above a dresser that was converted to a sink. I guess it is just left to the imagination of the user.  The bar idea is good. If you want to hang glasses Ikea has nice matal things that hang under a shelf.
