I made this quilt for my lovely partner in the Make a Friend Swap and she got it today, yay!  So now I can put it up here.  It is my own design, inspired by a photo of a mummy giraffe snuggling her baby, I'll track it down and put it in here too.  It's the 4th wall hanging I've designed myself, the others are in varying states of incompletion!  Swaps are a great way to ensure that you finish what you start  Grin

New photo hanging on the lovely Bugaboo1's wall! On page 3!

It's not actually crooked, my photography was shoddy.

And a little closer.

And here's Bugaboo1's pic as her's is better and shows the size as well!

Please let me know what you think.

Wow, this is lovely!

How long did it take you to complete?

This would look beautiful in a nursery!

You're way to quick for me!  I was just searching for my links ad I came back and there it was!  Thanks, that is the one!

And yep, appliqued.

Wow, this is lovely!

How long did it take you to complete?

This would look beautiful in a nursery!

Thanks!  It was 2 and a half months from initial sketches to postage.  Only working on it when my son was sleeping or those helpful days when my mum or husband got him out from under foot!

Beautiful! And I really enjoy applique! (though I don't know that I've done anything quite so big.....except maybe once- I'll see if I can find it...)

Love the subject and how you translated it from photography to fabric.

Well done!

Thought I would share now that it's been hung. Don't pay attention to the fact we live in a 120 yr old house with bad lighting lol

It fits perfect and wasn't even planned for the area but matches my bedspread and accents the walls so well. I love it!

Fab quilt/wall hanging!  I know what you mean about getting things done. . . I still have a baby quilt to finish and the "baby" is now three!  Oh well, at least she likes pink and purple. . . maybe she can use the quilt for her own kids.  Love the plain background.  It really brings out the Giraffe.
