I know I can't be the only one with an insane amount of craft books and magazines that I no longer need or want. I'm not sure how to go about this, but would anyone else be interested in doing a swap? And we could make a bookmark or something of the sort to send along.

I wouldn't be able to organize, because I am not so great at that, I tried before and my son keeps me too busy to be able to be on top of everything like that.

wow..have been reading my mind..I was just thinking about this..I saw a little icon on one of these craftster pages about swapping books and such..I think it might be interesting and also a little hard maybe to find someone that has something that you want to learn and vice versa..

but I love this idea..I hope it goes through..I have a load of books looking for a good home Smiley

I wonder of this could be done in a swap the shop/ wish list fashion where it is an ongoing type swap and you list books/ magazines  you have and one person picks one and then puts up their list and then the next person and so on. I am going to investigate this more because I have books I never use, but I am sure there are tons of books out there I loved. One thing to note, if we did ONLY books, it could all be sent media mail for cheap shipping. If we included magazines, it couldn't be sent media mail.

Investigating...

Ok, so I am going to go inventory my books and try to get this started. I think it will be in an ongoing fashion, so I will have it got for 1 month to start. As soon as I get my list of books together, I will get the sign up thread going. I think this will be pretty fun, and definitely a no stress swap.

thank you! i'm so glad someone else wants to do this because i have so many books that i don't use anymore or i bought and never really used and i think it's time for some new ones! so thank you for willing to do this, i'm going to go look through all my books also. =) and it should really be no stress, cause putting a book in the mail really isn't stressful. and if it is...then i dunno.

Hm.. I think I'd be interested! My bookshelf is stressing me out at the moment since it's bursting at the seams.. (figuratively speaking, of course!)... and I do have half a shelf of craft books... (some magazines too!).

Though the media mail would also exclude non-US participants (like.. ahem.. me, for example) as well as magazines..

it wouldn't have to be sent media mail, it would be more expensive, but as long as people are willing to pay shipping rates anyone is more than welcome to sign up and this way magazines would work too, they just have to be sent differently than books too. i don't see a problem as long as no one flakes. for the reason though, this should exclude first time swappers i think.

Hmm, would there be any way to do bigger amounts of books/magazines so that we could take advantage of using a flat rate box?
