6 months or so back, i bought a couple of bags of ginned cotton in a spinning store. it was great to spin, i really liked the finished yarn, all nubby with TONS of great texture. but the store is like an hour away, and i'm too busy to go, i've searched the net and come up with ZILCH!!! i'm amazed! i didn't think it would be so hard to get ahold of! apparently it's much harder to get than roving and top. ginned cotton is like fluff, like picked wool. it has been seperated from the plant, and everything has been picked out *seeds and things like that*. i put it through my drum carder one time, and it spun beautifully just like that. so if anyone has ever heard of anywhere to get this stuff online, i would be greatly indebted!!!!

omg, thank you so much! the ebay auction was perfect! i never check ebay because i'm not registered, but after seeing that link, i became a member right away! i've convoed her in hopes of ordering in bulk! i just wish it was more readily available so i could get the same type every time i ordered...oh well! thank you sooo much! this stuff is so fun to work with! i like to get my fiber as least prepared as possible, to give me more options for the outcome of my projects!

actually, i was shocked they didn't! you'd figure, with a name like that, they'd have every type imaginable, right? you know i bet they could get it though, it's just cotton top, minus carding and pulling into roving or top.....

yes, i tend to be the type of person who loves to do things just BECAUSE people say they are hard! it's my personal punishment! Wink well, to be honest it's also a necessity as i live in central texas, and it's LITERALLY hotter than hades in like the middle of jan! wool is definately my favorite thing to spin, but i can only wear it like 2 months out of the year! it's terrible to be a spinner and live here..... come to think of it, that may be the exact reason that i know nobody here that does it!

I know what you mean Australia is like Texas climate wise I think. We have a lot of spinners mostly wool spinners but only a few places are cold enough to have to wear wool more than a couple of months in a year. I live in Queensland in a place where its considered cold in winter in the mountains.
