here it is.. just normal.
Here it is on me, to the side. (it makes me look like an ikle kid from the side!)

and here it is front view.

the look on my face expresses how I feel about
the hat.. but I guess it isn't all that bad.
I mean.. a tulip hat is nice too... and the pink blob (face) totally is a blob on here..
normally it isnt too bad.
but, regardless, tell me what you think.,
Its an original design, I got it from an Idea
from a previous post. Cheesy
I can post a tute. if anyone wants it..
that depends on the popularity of it though..
so. if you want it, tell me. and I can get it up sooner
or later.

Oh, I think it's cute!  But it looks more like a flower hat to me, but I like visualizing it that way better, with little petals framing your face.  Very pixie like.  But then, I'm a flower freak, and frequently think of my orchid blooms as little bonnets.  I hope you do post the pattern!

That is f-in' cute.
I totally see the flower aspect, and yes insanely PIXIESQUE (that isn't even a word is it??)
OR a little like the polyp (or is it the larval) stage of an aquatic invertebrate... whose name escapes me right now.
That is a good thing... cuz big dangly octopus tentacles would look creepy!

yeah, the idea originated from a hat I posted earlier. My hair looked like tentacles, so I looked like an octopus. They did a wonderful drawing too. he he

but yeah, looks like a few people want the pixie-ish octopus hat.. so
here goes.. if it is at all confusing let me know.

what you need:
size 8 16" circular needles.
2 skeins of ocean. I used orange.
and a stitch marker
my yarn  Wink

I started off with the tentacles. I knit them just normal on circulars.. just like you would straight, but then when I was done, I just left them on. (if you dont know why.. you will see later)
there are eight(of course)...

cast on:2
Row1:knit row  (2)
Row2: knit row(2)
Row3:Increase one on each end (4)
Row4:Knit row
Row5: Inc. 1 on each end (6)
Row6: knit row
Row7: knit row
Row8: inc 1 on each end (Cool
Row9: knit row.

so you do that eight times. and leave them all on the circulars.
now, you figure out where you want the opening in the front.
I figured I would go 4 tentacles and do the opening, and then do the other 4.
so. you cast on 2  (if you have a smaller head. do one, but it wont make much of a difference.. I would just do two)   between each tentacle, so there is space between them. Then when you get to
the opening, you cast on 14. it should look like this:

now. you actually start knitting in the round.
you knit the 'cast on' row. then place a marker for your starting point.
For the rest of the hat knit two rows and purl the third.( start every new knit or purl row at the marker) that gives it the ribby-ish look.
Knit like that until your heart it content, then beging decreasing.
(remember.. keep your rib pattern throughout this part!!)

K or P two together then K or P two. ( so k2tog k2 )
knit the row
k2tog k1
knit the row
knit the row
k2tog until you have about ten-fifteen stitches left. (take out your stitch marker)
cut off the string leaving at least ten inches. Take a needle, and bring the extra string through the last
few stitches to pull it together. make sure everything is stitched up and secure. and your done!
(note: it does bunch up.. so I guess make the decrease more gradual to prevent that.)

again. if anything is at all confusing. please tell me. this is my first. "tutorial" or "pattern" or whatever.. so. .yep.!
enjoy your hat!!! Grin
