How did you get the strawberries like that?

Just thin cross sections of the strawberry cut a slice down the middle and twist open.  Just continue around and it looks like a strawberry spiral. 
Because I can make it myself!

 Shocked Wow, that cake is beautiful!!! Your grandfather is lucky to have you as a granddaughter, I'm sure he (and everyone else!) loved the cake. It looks a little too yummy, I need to keep telling myself it's a photo and not a real cake!

By the way, those strawberries are absolutely gorgeous. Truly professional and fun-looking!  Smiley

Another absolutely beautiful cake.  Those strawberries add so much.  Beautiful way to decorate with strawberries.

For some reason I read the title as "Vanilla Mongolia Cake" and was especially intrigued. The cake looks delicious and I'm sure your grandpa appreciated it!

between your post and the reviews on the other site, i'm convinced this is the cake i will be making next week for my boyfriend's birthday. i like the idea of your berries and cream filling, i was planning on doing that  with his cake.

for the frosting, did you use their butter cream? i'm not a fan of butter cream, and will probably use a similar whipping cream based frosting.

one more thing, the reviews we either really good, or really bad. any tips, since yours came out so nice?
