I had this fabric that I bought a thrift store a while ago and wanted to do SOMETHING with it and found this pattern on burdastyle.com:  http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/show/29.
So, without any adieu, Here it is... a nice dress for the impending summer heat...

Here is the design on the bottom that made me buy this fabric in the first place...

The problem that I have with it is that it is quite sheer and I feel like I need to dye it so that it is not so much like a hospital gown... but what color? I was thinking maroon, my hubby was thinking violet...

What do you think?

I agree completely with the previous poster.  Violet all the way.

Oh, it's just kittens.

I want to leave this world the way I came into it:  naked, screaming, and covered in someone else's blood.

Do you get Martha Stewart, they have this section about 'ombre' where you dye only part of the fabric and it comes out in shades.  If you did orange at the top and gradually did less and less dye you could keep the border as it is.  I would worry that dyeing it all would mean messing up the cute border.

It's a great dress!

That is a good idea. I was worried about how the design would fare after dying.
